Becoming a mother is one of life’s most powerful transformations and it deserves to be remembered. If you’re expecting and considering whether or not to book maternity photos, you’re not alone. Many Winnipeg moms wonder, “Will I regret not doing a maternity session?” . The answer I hear most from past clients? A resounding yes.
As a Winnipeg maternity photographer, I’ve worked with dozens of women who were hesitant at first unsure if they wanted to be in front of the camera during pregnancy. But once they saw their final gallery, they know it was so worth it. It’s not just about pretty photos. It’s about freezing time during a fleeting chapter that changes everything. You’re growing a WHOLE HUMAN BEING!!! Let’s celebrate that!
Pregnancy is full of changes… some magical, some uncomfortable, and all because you’re growing life. But there’s something special about pausing to document it. Whether you feel you’re glowing or just surviving, you deserve to see yourself from a new perspective: strong, radiant, and beautiful.
These photos aren’t just for you, either. They’re for your baby. One day, they’ll look at these images and say, “That’s me in there!” It creates a connection that words can’t fully express. (trust me!)

Most photographers recommend booking your maternity session between 28–34 weeks. During this window, your bump is beautifully round, but you’re usually still comfortable enough to move around with ease. If you’re expecting during our chilly Winnipeg winters, indoor studio sessions are a cozy and stunning option or in your home. During spring, summer, and fall, outdoor locations like Assiniboine Forest or Assiniboine English Gardens/Leo Mol are absolutely breathtaking.
If you’ve never had professional photos before or never loved being in front of the camera, it’s completely normal to feel nervous. But as a Winnipeg maternity photographer, my job is to guide you every step of the way. From helping you choose what to wear, to gently posing you so you feel natural and confident, the goal is always to make the experience feel relaxed, empowering, and even fun.
Some mamas choose to include their partners, kids, or even pets in the session. Others prefer a solo, intimate experience. There’s no right or wrong, it’s your personal session. Do what you feel comfortable with! It’s going to be magical either way.
Choosing the right outfit can completely elevate your photos. I always recommend:
Bonus: When you book with me, you’ll have access to my client guide, which has endless tips, suggestions and outfit boards to give inspiration for your maternity session.
If you’re in or near Winnipeg and starting to think about maternity photos, the best time to book is early in your second trimester to ensure availability, especially if you’re due in peak seasons like summer or fall.
I only take on a limited number of sessions per month so I can fully serve each client with care and attention. You’re not just another booking, I want you to walk away from your session feeling seen, celebrated, and so glad you made the time for this.
P.S. I offer a maternity and newborn photography bundle so that you ensure you’re documenting both milestone moments in your life. BOOK HERE.
Your pregnancy may feel like it’s flying by, but these photos will help you remember how it felt to grow a little life, to dream about who they’ll become, to prepare for everything that’s to come.
If you’re searching for a Winnipeg maternity photographer who will honor your story and make you feel beautiful just as you are, I’d be honored to connect.
