There is something incredibly meaningful about photographing families during the quiet moments before everything changes. This beautiful in home maternity session with Chey and Joel in Iles Des Chenes, just outside of Winnipeg, was filled with so much warmth and excitement as they await to welcome their baby boy.

This session felt especially close to my heart because I have known Chey for years. In fact, she was one of the very first people I ever photographed nearly a decade ago when I was just beginning my photography journey. We spent part of the session laughing about those early days and how much life has changed since then. Being invited back into such an important season of their lives felt incredibly special.

Why In Home Maternity Sessions Feel So Personal

Their home created the perfect cozy setting for this maternity session. The soft natural light pouring through the windows added such a calm and intimate feeling to the images. Every little detail felt personal and meaningful, especially knowing this space would soon hold all of their first memories with their baby boy.

One of my favourite parts of the session was including their sweet dog Riggley. He stayed close to Chey and Joel throughout the session and added such a natural and personal touch to their photos. You could already feel the love and connection within their growing family.

Chey and Joel kept the styling casual and timeless which worked beautifully for the relaxed in home atmosphere. The entire session felt emotional in the best way. There was so much excitement, tenderness, and anticipation woven into every moment together.

As a Winnipeg maternity photographer, these are the sessions I cherish most. The quiet in between moments, the laughter, the connection, and the stories that families will one day share with their children. This session was such a beautiful reminder of how important it is to preserve this chapter before baby arrives.
